Among the many virtues taught and encouraged within Freemasonry, Faith holds a place of special importance. It serves as the cornerstone upon which the principles of the Craft are built and provides the moral foundation that guides a Mason throughout his life.
Freemasonry is not a religion, nor does it seek to replace any man’s faith. Instead, it brings together men of many different religious traditions who share a belief in a Supreme Being and a desire to live honorable, moral lives. Within the lodge, men of different backgrounds meet as equals, united by mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to personal growth.
Faith in Freemasonry extends beyond religious belief alone. It encompasses trust in divine guidance, confidence in moral principles, and a belief in the potential for every individual to improve himself and positively impact the world around him. It reminds us that our actions have meaning, that character matters, and that we are accountable for the choices we make.
A Mason is encouraged to practice his faith according to the teachings of his own religion while respecting the beliefs of others. This spirit of tolerance and understanding has long been one of Freemasonry’s greatest strengths. Within the lodge, men are not judged by denomination or creed, but by the content of their character and their commitment to living according to the highest ideals of integrity, honesty, and brotherly love.

Faith also provides strength during life’s challenges. Whether facing personal hardship, loss, uncertainty, or adversity, faith offers comfort and perspective. It reminds us that we are part of something greater than ourselves and encourages us to meet difficulties with courage, patience, and perseverance.
For Freemasons, faith is not merely something to be professed—it is something to be lived. It is demonstrated through kindness, integrity, humility, service, and compassion. The lessons learned within the lodge are intended to inspire men to carry these values into their homes, workplaces, and communities.
At THE Brotherhood Lodge No. 468, we welcome men from many faith traditions who share a common belief in a Supreme Being and a commitment to moral living. We believe that faith strengthens character, unites good men, and helps create a better future for our families, our communities, and ourselves.
Through faith, we find purpose. Through faith, we find strength. Through faith, we are reminded of our duty to live honorable lives and to leave the world better than we found it.
Now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13
